Automating a Multistep Task in Photoshop

An action is a set of one or more commands that you record and then play back to apply to a single file or a batch of files. In this exercise, you'll use actions to color match, sharpen, and save the images you'll combine in a panorama.

Photoshop Madness: One Last Time

So, here's the last Photoshop Madness for 2010 ... it's been a great year, with lots of visits to extraordinary talents, some Photoshop spam sites, some shovelware sites, and lots of goodies to download.

CELEBRATION: We celebrate the huge wealth of talent there is to draw from on the web. You could spend hours and hours just soaking it in -- until you become numb to amazing visions. We celebrate all those who generously share the visions and talents you have ... with the rest of us.

 

Photoshop Madness: Visions

It's a jungle out there... We ran across one site uncovered in the shovelware sites who was offering free vector files. But when I saw some of the comments, I decided not to attempt downloading the files. One commenter wrote:

Quoting  begins It is a SCAM and HOAX and has no business being posted on a site such as this. You should delete all links to ifolder.ru. They're lowlife scumbags. Quoting  ends

Another writes:

Quoting  begins We own the copyright to most of these tribals. Lots of them showing up on eBay. Everybody is about to meet our lawyers, including this website. Quoting  ends

So I can see that other people are tromping these shovelware sites too. I decided to look for an "About" page. None there. However, I did find the "Copyright infringement" page where the site says "... if you want this material removed, you must provide a written communication ..." So, in effect they openly admit to ripping off the creative works of others, and hiding behind the DMCA.

Adding Frames and Borders in Photoshop

This tutorial offers two basic strategies to add borders to your images. The two strategies represent two distinct logics of achieving the same result: (1) creating a mat above your image and cutting out an opening in it to see the underlying image, or (2) modifying the canvas that underlies your image. The choice of the option depends on the image you have.
