Derambakhsh’s “Symphony of Lines” to ring out in cartoon world

TEHRAN, June 9 (MNA) -- Two new cartoon collections created by Iranian artist Kambiz Derambakhsh entitled “The Symphony of Lines” and “Olympics of Laughter” will be published in the near future.

In “Olympics of Laughter”, Derambakhsh drew cartoons on the theme of sports with thoughtful imagination.

Iranian illustrator Shafiei invited to Berlin Intl. Literary Festival

TEHRAN, June 16 (MNA) -- Iranian illustrator Farshid Shafiei has been invited to the Berlin International Literary Festival, which runs from September 24 to October 3.


Being the first Iranian illustrator participating in the event, Shafiei will be holding several workshops for children and young adults aged 3 to 15 at the International Children’s and Youth Literature section of the festival.

Iranian artist wins Graphis gold award

TEHRAN, Aug. 12 (MNA) – Taha Zaker’s poster series celebrating ‘contemporary musicians’ has snatched Graphis gold award.

Taha Zaker, Iranian director and graphic designer, has been selected as the Gold winner for his poster series which celebrated contemporary musicians. Zaker has also designed the poster for the 33rd edition of Fajr International Film Festival and directed a number of plays.

Book on refugee highlights hope for survival

TEHRAN, Jan. 26 (MNA) – Melissa Fleming’s ‘A Hope More Powerful than the Sea: One Refugee's Incredible Story of Love, Loss, and Survival’ has given a graphic account of the sufferings of Syrian refugees wandering the Mediterranean Sea in winter.

'The stunning story of a young woman, an international crisis, and the triumph of the human spirit,' describes the book; adrift in a frigid sea, no land in sight—just debris from the ship's wreckage and floating corpses all around—nineteen-year-old Doaa Al Zamel floats with a small inflatable water ring around her waist and clutches two children, barely toddlers, to her body. The children had been thrust into Doaa's arms by their drowning relatives, all refugees who boarded a dangerously overcrowded ship bound for Sweden and a new life. For days, Doaa floats, prays, and sings to the babies in her arms. She must stay alive for these children. She must not lose hope.
