TEHRAN, June 16 (MNA) -- Iranian illustrator Farshid Shafiei has been invited to the Berlin International Literary Festival, which runs from September 24 to October 3.
Being the first Iranian illustrator participating in the event, Shafiei will be holding several workshops for children and young adults aged 3 to 15 at the International Children’s and Youth Literature section of the festival.
He is scheduled to teach the art of illustration, and will be reciting several parts of his books for the participants. He will also discuss his stories with the participating critics, publishers, writers and illustrators.
Some of his illustrations will be put on display during the event and short films and animations made on his books will also be screened at the festival.
Several books illustrated by Shafiei including “Shahrzad” written by Farideh Khalatbari, “Zarbal” by Jamaleddin Akrami, “My Tales” by Marjan Keshavarzi Azad, and “Farshid” by Mahdokht Kashkuli are to be reviewed during the festival.
Every year, more than 120 authors are invited to hold reading and discussion sessions and meet the audience.
People from different languages, cultures, and religions with different backgrounds and traditions get together in Berlin and communicate in a peaceful and cooperative way.
The first festival attracted 6,000 visitors, the last ones more than 30,000 each. The festival contains several sections such as “Literatures of the World”, “International Children’s and Youth Literature” and some smaller program sections.
Shafiei was born in 1969 and has studied graphic design and animation. He is currently an illustrator, graphic designer, and animator.
