Stunning Vector + Raster images

Following last month's vector vs. bitmap article, I decided to crack open a collection of rare and spectacular art I've been gathering over the past few months and show you some of these marvels. The first several pieces were created by talented young artists by combining vector and bitmap (raster) techniques. Here are some of the best, along with several excellent graphic designers who turn their visions into real products.

Although not specifically a Photoshop diva, Lorena Mirbach creates some deliciously wonderful typography, logo design, and Illustration, from her studios in Hamburg, Germany. She says "Insanity" the font used for this project is one of her most favored fonts. We favored it too!

Ah&Oh Studio based halfway between Berlin and Warsaw creates some extravagant new designs, packaging products and illustration. This is an example of one of their educational toys. Kawamura Hideo Activity Inc. in Tokyo, Japan, creates some stunning home accessories like this series of lights dubbed "ONOFF" -- An illustration is printed on both the inside and outside of the shade. Each ONOFF shade displays two different designs - whether it is switched OFF or on.

Looking at the works of these designers is truly inspirational -- but don't take it too lightly. The techniques used above are not easy and they don't happen over night. These artisans have spent thousands of hours honing and sharpening their skills. If you want to go in that direction, plan to spend lots of time and endure lots of frustration.

We have about 200 more examples, and in the upcoming weeks and months I hope to show them all!
